Theme Overview

Down and Out is a theme for starving urban writers and artists; based loosely on George Orwell’s popular biographical novel, “Down and Out in Paris and London.” This spare, yet extremely functional WordPress theme is gritty and real, perfect for the modern-day Orwell, coming home from a long night of washing dishes. The WordPress theme is perfect for cuddling next to a warm computer monitor and creating a subtly brilliant examination of class, sex, morality and politics.

Special Features

{ Featured Articles } Down and Out‘s special feature includes a post “rotation” option, which displays the post(s) of your choosing each time your homepage is viewed. You can select dozens (or just a few) of your favorite “Featured Articles” to appear at the top of your page, all of which can be executed within the WordPress administration dashboard. Format your post to this area of the design, and associate it with your “Featured Articles” category to promote your content.

{ Custom Widgetized Footer } A special footer area was designed into Down and Out’s WordPress theme interface and design, allowing for four (4) widget-ready areas.

Style & Artwork

Down and Out is our second Web 2.0-style, inorganic themophiliac™ WordPress release. Subtle shades of gray, with contrasting darker treatments frame the layout and interface with geometric borders. A complimentary orange palette is used for links and compliments the overall user experience. Dying for your art? Is there any other way? Don’t let your poverty define you. Define your poverty!
